75 Years Studio 49

Jakob v. Wolff takes over Studio 49 in the third generation. Under his leadership, Studio 49 remains true to its values: faithful to the legacy of Carl Orff, giving everything for quality and sound, 100% made in Germany, and unique service for customers.


2005

Series 1000

Compact instruments, big sound: Bernd develops the Series 1000. Instruments from Studio 49 set new standards in sound and practicality.


1983

2nd Generation

Bernd Becker-Ehmck takes over the leadership in the second generation. As a visionary engineer, Bernd prepares production for the future. His love for detail is evident in every product. He is the guarantee for perfect sound and the best craftsmanship.

1968

New Home

The demand for Orff instruments is continuously growing. Studio 49 is moving to its new home in Gräfelfing near Munich. Carl Orff congratulates and gives the opening speech.

1960

Royal Percussion

Studio 49 builds orchestral instruments under the name Royal Percussion: The instruments receive worldwide attention. To this day, the instruments are at home in the great concert halls of the world.

1958

Orff Schulwerk is inspiring

The Orff Schulwerk becomes the leading elementary music education: Children around the world experience music. Studio 49 publishes the first catalog for Orff instruments.

1949

Foundation Studio 49

Klaus Becker-Ehmck, an enthusiastic singer and engineering student, builds the first instruments for Carl Orff. From their friendship, the company Studio 49 is founded.

Ab 1930

Orff Schulwerk

Carl Orff teaches elementary music education at the Günther School. He establishes the Orff Schulwerk. Together with Klaus, he develops the modern Orff instruments. Thus, he becomes the founding father of Studio 49.
